Produce

2021 Squash produce was an excellent learning experience. Sweet n Savory Garlic Farm planted and Harvested a total acre of Acorn and Butternut squash. We lost our first crop that was planted in May to severe drought. We replanted in June and had a great crop. The only issue we had is that being a month behind other farms in the state, by the time we harvested our beautiful crop, the market was already saturated.

The takeaway from the squash is that I am able to manage an acre of the land pretty much by myself. I did have help harvesting the squash and am appreciative to those who volunteered. I also learn that a farmer can do everything right, but if the weather does not cooperate, everything is lost.

In 2022. all the focus will be on the garlic and at this time do not plan on planting any other produce. I still have so much to learn about growing garlic and farming. I am looking forward to a successful year.
